White Earth man injured after hit with plow

A White Earth man is hospitalized after a strike from a snowplow in Becker County.

According to a release, the Becker County Sheriff’s Office responded around 3 a.m. Wednesday after a report from the Becker highway department that one of their plows had struck a man who was lying on County Road 21.

The incident was north of Richwood, which is about 12 miles north of Detroit Lakes.

The road surface was snow and ice-covered at the time with strong winds and blowing snow.

Thirty-nine-year-old Matthew Larson was unconscious until paramedics arrived but had no obvious signs of trauma.

The plow truck driver administered first aid before others arrived on the scene.

Larson was transported from the scene by Essentia EMS to St. Mary’s in Detroit Lakes.

No further information was released.

The White Earth Tribal Police Department also assisted at the scene.
