White Earth man pleads guilty to federal drug crimes

A White Earth man entered a guilty plea to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine last week.

Federal court documents say that on Dec. 7, 2019, law enforcement executed a search warrant at a Bemidji residence, where 40-year-old Augustus Light was at the time.

At that time, Light had more than 50 grams of pure methamphetamine in his possession, as well as a digital scale and three rounds of .45 caliber ammunition.

Light’s residence in Naytahwaush was also searched, and recovered a locked safe which contained small quantities of controlled substances, $4,800 in cash, and more ammunition.

This case is the result of an investigation conducted by the Beltrami County Attorney, the Mahnomen County Attorney, the Bemidji Police Department, the Beltrami County SHeriff’s Office, the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office, and the White Earth Police Department.
