Several homes were evacuated yesterday in Eckles Township after a wildfire.
According to numerous press releases, the blaze began yesterday afternoon and the evacuation orders were lifted around 6 p.m.
The affected area was about a quarter-mile west of Cardinal Road and Radar Road northwest.
Authorities in Beltrami County issued several warnings to the public not to go sightseeing either in the wildfire area or where the air tankers were refilling as crowding was impeding the firefighting efforts.
Crews used 15 engines and equipment, as well as several air tankers and three helicopters.
Approximately 60 acres of grass and pine burned, and the fire’s origin is still under investigation.
