UPDATED: Woman killed after stabbing in Bagley

A woman was killed in a stabbing in Bagley Monday night.

According to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a medical emergency around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7, with another caller indicating there had been a dispute on the 14000 block of 336th St. in Bagley.

Bagley Police officers and Clearwater Sheriff’s deputies responded and made contact with the suspect, who was uncooperative and fled on foot.

Officers were checking a neighboring residence when they heard a female inside the house yelling and observed a struggle between the woman and the suspect.

Law enforcement attempted to subdue the subject with a taser. The subject brandished a knife and stabbed the victim before running from the residence and into the woods.

Officers provided first aid to the victim, who was then transported to the Sanford Bagley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

She was identified as 53-year-old Dawn Louise Swenson of rural Bagley.

The suspect was taken into custody after a several hour search. He was identified as 27-year-old Christopher Colgrove of rural Bagley, and he will be arraigned Wednesday, Sept. 9, in Clearwater County Court.

The Minnesota BCA, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, White Earth Tribal Police Department, FBI Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force assisted the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office and Bagley Police Department.
