The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office says a woman was killed in a snowmobile crash with a semi tractor-trailer Sunday morning.
According to a release from Sheriff Jason Riggs, deputies were called to the scene near the Clearwater-Beltrami county line and found a woman with serious injuries. Life-saving measures were attempted but she was declared dead on the scene. The crash is being investigated by the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office.
Several hours after the crash, the family and friends of the victim returned to recover involved the snowmobiles but found that one of the machines that belonged to the family of the deceased was missing.
The machine was parked on the Beltrami side of the scene, and deputies followed tracks leading west from the scene.
On Monday, a search warrant was executed at a rural address near Leonard where tracks matching the stolen machine led.
The snowmobile was located and one man and one woman have felony theft charges pending.
