ST. PAUL– More details have been released on a state representative’s arrest last Saturday after he appeared in court yesterday.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Matt Grossell, a Republican representative from Clearbrook, got into a scuffle with a hotel security guard before being taken to the hospital.

The Best Western Plus Capitol Ridge security called police around 1 a.m. Saturday. Police called an ambulance to take him to Regions hospital because they were concerned he was too intoxicated to care for himself.

After being cleared by doctors, he allegedly refused to leave the hospital, and demanded a pair of Crocs shoes before he would leave. The hospital reportedly had no footwear for him.

Grossell was booked into the Ramsey County jail at 5:08 a.m. and released 13 minutes later.

Grossell was cited for disorderly conduct and trespassing, and released a statement apologizing for the incident last weekend.
