Off-highway vehicle reminders from DNR

After a long winter, the DNR is reminding recreationists to remember key points for off-highway riding.

Minnesota has more than 3,000 miles of trails for all types of OHVs and rider skill levels, but some trails might be opening later than usual due to flooding or trail maintenance work.

Safety training is required for all riders born after July 1, 1987, with riders under 16 required to complete a hands-on ATV safety training course.

The Woodtick Wheelers ATV Club will hold two safety classes on June 10th, with participants required to take the at-home self-study class prior to attending. Pre-registration is required.

Most trails in the state are built and maintained by clubs and funded through grant-in-aid programs, with valid registration required when riding on state or grant-in-aid trails.

More information is on the DNR’s website.
