The Clearwater County Board of Commissioners is one of three that voted yesterday to become a Second Amendment Sanctuary county.
According to the resolution provided by Clearwater Board Coordinator Emily McDougall, the county will not use public funds to restrict the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens, and intends to oppose “any infringement on the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms.”
These infringements could include potential universal background checks and “red flag” laws.
According to McDougall, the resolution came after a discussion last week, after hearing concerns from a family that owns a local gun shop.
Marshall and Wadena counties have also declared themselves as “Second Amendment dedicated” after votes yesterday.
