Suspect in Monday’s apparent homicide arrested

The Bemidji Police Department reports that as of 1:30 p.m. today, the suspect in Monday’s apparent homicide has been arrested without incident.

According to previous releases, law enforcement responded to the Sanford Hospital Monday night in response to a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound.

Bemidji Police Chief Mike Mastin says the juvenile was treated for his injuries and released.

Within minutes of responding to the hospital Monday night, law enforcement responded to the 1100 block of Minnesota Ave. NW and found a 20-year-old man dead.

Eighteen-year-old Antonio Parkhurst reportedly fled the scene on Minnesota Ave. with a handgun. He was apprehended today.

The identity of the 20-year-old victim has not yet been released, pending an autopsy with the Medical Examiner and notification of family.
