Red Lake to vote on medical marijuana

The Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians will vote this May on a medical marijuana referendum.

According to an election notice, in addition to selecting the four district representatives from Ponemah, Redby, Red Lake and Little Rock, member voters will be asked “Shall the Tribal Council authorize the production, regulation and distribution of medical marijuana on the Red Lake Reservation?”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, member voters must request an absentee ballot to participate, and the ballots must be received by election officials on or before May 20.
