STATE UPDATES

The Minnesota Department of Health reports a cumulative total of 13,435 positive COVID-19 cases in the state, 523 newly reported cases and 25 newly reported deaths. Total deaths in the state are now at 663, with 537 of those being residents in long-term care or assisted living facilities.

To date, 128,752 Minnesotans have been tested for the viral disease. Over 6,000 tests were completed in a single day, and 8,473 patients have recovered to the point they no longer need to be isolated.

As of today, there have been 1,605 health care workers that have tested positive for COVID-19.

Cumulatively, there have been 1,915 Minnesotans hospitalized for complications of COVID-19. Today, there are 498 hospitalized and 203 in the ICU.

Gov. Tim Walz did not extend the stay at home order during his address last night, but did extend the peacetime state of emergency. Modeling from the state health economist at the University of Minnesota indicates the stay at home order was not as effective as researchers assumed it would be. Read more about it here.

LOCAL UPDATES

MDH is reporting two new cases of COVID-19 in Beltrami County, bringing the county’s total to eight. MDH reports Cass County has an additional case as of today, bringing the cumulative COVID total to nine with two deaths, and an additional case in Itasca County, bringing their cumulative total to 41 with two deaths.

According to Public Health Director Cynthia Borgen, one of the two new cases will likely probably be moved to another jurisdiction, due to the old address MDH had on file for the patient.

MDH reports one of the newly reported deaths as of today was in Polk County, who was between 30 and 39 years of age. Polk County has 55 cases as of today with two deaths, and MDH added an additional case in Mahnomen and Koochching counties. Mahnomen County now has five cases, Koochching three, Becker 30, Roseau one, Pennington one, and Marshall County has eight confirmed cases.
