Bemidji Weekend Blotter: 6/11-6/14

The following is a summary of incidents the Bemidji Police Department and the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office responded to from Thursday, June 11, to Sunday, June 14.

BEMIDJI POLICE DEPARTMENT

SUNDAY, JUNE 14

Traffic Stop, 11:44 p.m.

Traffic stop on the 100 block of Beltrami Ave. NW. One 22-year-old cited for reckless driving.

Family Crimes, 7:15 p.m.

Officers responded to the ER for a hold on an infant.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 5:06 p.m.

Officers responded to a speeding motorcycle complaint on the 2600 block of Delton Ave. NW. The motorcycle was located but the driver was not. Associates were advised of the concern.

Medical, 2:59 p.m.

Possible drug overdose reported on the 400 block of Mississippi Ave. NW.

Disorderly Conduct, 12:57 p.m.

Officer spoke with an individual on the 100 block of 12th St. NW about his disorderly actions. The individual agreed to keep his opinions to himself and continue drinking on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

Assault, 4:57 a.m.

Officers responded for a removal on the 2400 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW. Individual arrested for DANCO violation and false name.

Theft, 2:20 a.m.

Officer made a report of bike that was stolen out of a residence’s garage on the 2500 block of Minnesota Ave. NW.

Assault, 1:56 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of an assault in progress on the 1100 block of 4th St. SE. Individual was arrested for domestic assault.

SATURDAY, JUNE 13

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 10:31 p.m.

Officers received a reckless vehicle complaint on Power Dam Rd. and Lake Ave. NE. Driver was itching bug bites, driver was sober.

Suspicious, 9:15 p.m.

Intoxicated male wandered away from friends on 19th St. and Birchmont Dr. NE. Friends were able to corral individual and walk him home. No assistance needed.

Public Relations, 6:01 p.m.

Officers performed foot patrol on the 2800 block of Pine Ridge Ave. NW. One individual arrested on a warrant.

Assist, 5:07 p.m.

No vehicle theft occurred. Individual found his misplaced vehicle on 4th St. and Beltrami Ave. NW. No actions taken.

Weapons Offenses, 4:34 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of BB guns being shot in town. Individuals on the 1600 block of Irvine Ave. NW were given a warning and instructed not to shoot in town.

Disorderly Conduct, 1:59 p.m.

An officer responded to an intoxicated individual in a neighbor’s property on the 6100 block of 8th St. NW. The individual agreed to return home after some encouragement.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 10:36 a.m.

Report of a suspicious subject walking around on 9th St. and Park Ave. NW. She was determined to be a lost local and was returned to her residence.

Property Damage, 7:49 a.m.

Tire slashed on the 1200 block of 3rd St. SE.

Public Relations, 12:30 a.m.

Officers conducted a foot patrol on the 1700 block of Birchmont Dr. NE and informed four parties about the park being closed.

FRIDAY, JUNE 12

Disorderly Conduct, 8:31 p.m.

An individual was cited and a second was arrested following a request to remove an individual on the 600 block of 3rd St. NW.

Theft, 3:25 p.m.

Theft of a lawnmower reported on the 1700 block of Roosevelt Rd. SE.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 2:48 p.m.

Child locked in car on the 1000 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. S., tow company unlocked, clear.

Theft, 7:30 a.m.

Vehicle theft reported on the 300 block of 3rd St. NW. Suspect identified and vehicle is pending recovery.

Assault, 12:29 a.m.

Officers took a report of a domestic assault on the 2800 block of Pine Ridge Ave. NW. Charges referred to County Attorney.

THURSDAY, JUNE 11

DWI, 11:35 p.m.

Traffic stop on Irvine Ave. and Justice Rd. NW. Adult male arrested for DWI and multiple other violations.

Suspicious, 4:40 p.m.

An officer responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint on the 600 block of 1st St. W. Young drivers were found to be practicing driving.

Theft, 3:36 p.m.

Theft of bike reported on the 1700 block of 30th St. NW.

Theft, 2:02 p.m.

Adult male cited for theft from a vehicle on the 300 block of 4th St. NW.

Warrant, 12:33 p.m.

Subject taken into custody on warrant without incident on the 6400 block of Irvine Ave. NW.

Welfare Check, 11:43 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of disorderly individuals on the 400 block of Beltrami Ave. NW. One was arrested on an outstanding warrant and one was given a courtesy ride to the Best Western.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 10:16 a.m.

Vehicle was recovered from a local business on the 3300 block of Gillette Dr. NW after someone attempted to hide it in the woods. Vehicle was related to a vehicle pursuit in the City of Bemidji. Vehicle was towed to the BPD impound lot for processing.

Burglary, 9:23 a.m.

Burglary of an outbuilding on the 500 block of 24th St. NW.

Suspicious, 3:58 a.m.

Individual was moving wood in his yard on the 1100 block of Maurice Ave. NW. Neighbor wanted to make sure everything was ok.

Welfare Check, 3:17 a.m.

Officers conducted a welfare check on a male on the 1800 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW. The male was found to be fine, and was later arrested on a warrant.

Pursuit, 2:39 a.m.

Vehicle pursuit on Park Ave. and 30th St. NW.

BELTRAMI COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

SUNDAY, JUNE 14

Suspicious, 8:02 p.m.

Deputy checked on vehicle parked on shoulder of Buckeye Rd. and Highway 72 NE in Blackduck. Was a party taking pictures of the scenery.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 6:56 p.m.

Vehicle reported in the ditch on MN Highway 72 in Blackduck. Handled by the MSP.

Suspicious, 2:18 p.m.

Deputy took a report of a suspicious item located near a creek on Hagali Rd. NE in Tenstrike.

Warrant, 2:41 a.m.

Person with a Beltrami County warrant was arrested in Cass County and transported to the Beltrami County Jail.

DWI, 1:34 a.m.

Deputy located vehicle in the ditch on Irvine Ave. and Whiting Rd. NW. Driver arrested for DWI. Passenger cited for minor consume.

Suspicious, 1:07 a.m.

Report of a suspicious noise inside a residence on the 28700 block of Brook Lake Rd. SE in Pennington. Deputies were later advised it was a large mouse. No further assistance requested.

SATURDAY, JUNE 13

Assault, 9:58 p.m.

Assault in progress on the 5600 block of Alps Ct. NW. Two males arrested.

Assist, 8:21 p.m.

Reported overdose came from Alpine Village.

DWI, 6:26 p.m.

Warrant executed on the 16500 block of Roosevelt Rd. SE. One male party arrested.

DWI, 3:10 p.m.

Traffic stop for operating an ATV on public roadway without displaying registration on the 2100 block of Oriole Dr. SE in Cass Lake. Adult male arrested for DWI.

Agency Assist, 4:47 a.m.

Assist Bemidji PD with missing vehicle on the 2400 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW. Two cited.

FRIDAY, JUNE 12

Disorderly Conduct, 9:56 p.m.

Possible gun shots reported on Roosevelt Rd. and Kay Ave. SE. Eyewitness reported fireworks.

DWI, 9:36 p.m.

Traffic stop on Frohn Rd. and Power Dam Rd. NE. Driver arrested for second degree DWI.

ATV, 7:16 p.m.

ATV crash with injuries on Damon Lake Rd. NE and Morph Meadows Rd. NE in Pennington. Responding agencies included Blackduck Police Department, Blackduck ambulance, Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Sanford Life Light, Blackduck Fire.

Assist, 6:08 p.m.

Caller concerned about traffic cone placement on the 2400 block of Birchmont Beach Rd. NE.

911, 2:53 p.m.

911 misdial on the 19500 block of Mission Rd. SE in Cass Lake. Accidental dial by infant.

Welfare Check, 10:53 a.m.

Deputy performed a welfare check on a female subject who had not been to work in several days. Female was found to be at home on Boreal Rd. in Pennington and in good health.

Fraud, 10:34 a.m.

Deputy spoke with a complainant regarding fraudulent unemployment benefits claim in his name.

Dead Body, 10:15 a.m.

Deceased adult male in residence in Blackduck. Natural causes.

Fraud, 10:09 a.m.

Party advising of fraudulent unemployment claim made in her name.

Suspicious, 7:35 a.m.

Vehicle parked at entrance to county gravel pit on the 2300 block of Stone Lake Rd. NW.

THURSDAY, JUNE 11

Animal, 9:27 p.m.

Anonymous complaint of unattended dog in vehicle on the 300 block of Big Turtle Access NW. Doggie appeared to be fine and was unhappy that deputy was nosing around the open windows of his person’s truck.

Property Damage, 5:48 p.m.

Property damage to the inside of a garage. One juvenile female arrested on an unrelated warrant. Charges for the property damage will be forwarded to the County Attorney’s Office.

Fraud, 2:42 p.m.

Complainant reports unknown suspect tried to obtain unemployment benefits using his identity. Employer, MN unemployment agency are aware of this.

DWI, 1:05 p.m.

Deputy assisted BDP in locating suspect vehicle involved with a fleeing shoplifter. Deputy located and stopped vehicle on the 2000 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW. Adult female arrested for DWI.

Disorderly Conduct, 5:10 a.m.

Group of juvenile females making threats. One juvenile female arrested for her warrant.

Traffic Stop, 1:08 a.m.

Traffic stop on the 400 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. SE. Two parties arrested for DWI and other charges.
