Situation Update for Monday, June 22

The Minnesota Department of Health announced 308 newly reported cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the state’s cumulative total to 33,227. MDH also reported four newly reported deaths, bringing the state’s total to 1,384.

Of those deaths, 1,095 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities, and of those positive cases, 3,392 were health care workers.

Approximately 513,137 have been tested for COVID-19, with 8,664 tests completed within the last 24 hours.

COVID-19 patients in intensive care continues to decrease. Today, MDH reports 156 COVID patients in ICU, the lowest number of patients since May 3. Including those in ICU, there are 332 in the hospital today due to COVID-19.

To date, 29,065 COVID patients no longer need to be isolated. By subtracting those released from isolation and the deaths from the state’s cumulative positive COVID-19 total, that leaves 2,778 active cases of COVID-19 in the state.

MDH reported no new COVID cases or deaths in north central Minnesota today, but two new cases were reported by MDH in Beltrami County over the weekend, and one new case was reported in Clearwater County.

Beltrami County has had 25 cases, Cass County has had 12 with two deaths, Clearwater County has had six cases, Hubbard County has had five cases, Itasca County has had 59 with 12 deaths, Koochiching County has had nine cases, Mahnomen County has had six cases with one death, and Roseau County has had six cases.

Lake of the Woods County on the Canadian border remains the only Minnesota county without a single COVID-19 case.
