Situation Update for Thursday, Aug. 13

The Minnesota Department of Health reports 697 new cases of COVID-19 and seven new COVID-related deaths, bringing the state’s case total to 62.993 and a death toll of 1,685.

Of those deaths, 1,263 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of those cases, 7,205 were health care workers.

Approximately 963,096 people have been tested for COVID-19, and over 1.2 million tests have been completed.

Between MDH and external laboratories, almost 15,000 tests were completed Aug. 12.

To date, 56,346 COVID patients have been released from isolation.

Non-critical hospitalizations decreased today, at 154 from 181, and ICU hospitalizations remain the same from yesterday, at 154.

MDH reported 16 new cases of COVID-19 in Beltrami County today, bringing the cumulative total to 264.

“We expected that increase on our MDH numbers,” said Beltrami Public Health’s Megan Heuer in a text. “They were all cases we previously were aware of but had not posted to the MDH site yet.”

As of today, the county is monitoring 27 active COVID cases and four hospitalizations, with 78 tests pending. One hospitalization is a Hubbard County case.

MDH reported four new cases of COVID-19 in Cass County, bringing their total to 80 with two deaths; one new case in Hubbard County, total of 36; three new cases in Koochiching County, total of 83 with three deaths; and one new case in Roseau County, total of 53.
