Situation Update for Friday, Aug. 14

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 738 newly-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and eight COVID-related deaths today, bringing the cumulative case count to 63,723 and a death toll of 1,693.

Of those deaths, 1,269 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of those cases, 7,112 were health care workers.

Approximately 973,546 people have been tested for COVID-19, with 1.219 million tests completed overall. Over 16,000 tests were completed between MDH and external laboratories Thursday.

To date, 56,659 COVID patients have been released from isolation.

ICU hospitalizations decreased slightly today, at 152 from 154 yesterday, but non-critical hospitalizations rose from 154 to 161.

MDH reported three new COVID cases in Beltrami County today, bringing the total to 267.

MDH also reported one new case in Cass County and one new COVID-related death, bringing their totals to 79 with three deaths. The latest Cass County COVID victim was in their 80s.

MDH reported three new cases in Lake of the Woods County today, bringing their cumulative total to seven.
