Situation Update for Wednesday, Sept. 30

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 689 new cases of COVID-19 today, and 16 new COVID deaths, bringing the state’s case count to 99,134 and its death toll to 2,036.

Of those deaths, 1,458 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of those cases, 10,440 were health care workers.

Over 12,800 COVID tests were completed yesterday, and in total, over 2.030 million tests have been completed since late March.

To date, 89,392 COVID patients have been released from isolation.

MDH reported 13 new cases of COVID-19 in Beltrami County today, bringing the county’s cumulative case count to 473 with five deaths. Beltrami County Public Health reported yesterday that they were monitoring 79 active cases as of around noon. MDH typically is a day behind the county’s case counts.

A mass testing event began yesterday and is underway today and tomorrow from noon until 6 p.m. at the Bemidji Armory. No insurance is required and there are no barriers to testing. Sign up for an appointment time here to avoid long waits.

MDH also reported three new COVID cases in Cass County today, bringing their total to 188 cases with four deaths; one new case in Clearwater County, total of 32 cases; three new cases in Hubbard County, total of 126 cases and one death; and four new cases in Itasca County, for a total of 356 cases and 16 deaths.

Two new deaths were reported in north-central Minnesota: an Itasca resident in their early 80s, and a Koochiching County resident in their late 80s.
