A 28-year-old Bemidji man is facing charges after firing a gun toward law enforcement in an incident Thursday.
According to the release from Beltrami County Sheriff Ernie Beitel, law enforcement used a Taser and did not use their firearms to bring the suspect into custody.
Law enforcement responded to the 17,000 block of Highway 89 on report of a family member acting oddly and armed with a pistol. around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
The suspect, 28-year-old Lukas Dudley, was seen walking along the highway as deputies responded.
Dudley allegedly confronted the deputies, pointed the weapon and fired at law enforcement multiple times throughout the half-hour confrontation.
The release says Dudley was a person of interest in an earlier reported forced entry of a house in Wilton, where the burglary of a loaded handgun and ammunition was reported.

Ultimately, while law enforcement reportedly continued negotiations as more officers arrived, the subject tried to walk back towards their residence, randomly firing, one deputy was able to deploy their Taser, and Dudley was taken into custody without further incident.
Dudley was arraigned on Friday for two felony charges, second degree assault and reckless discharge of a firearm, and the misdemeanor charge of obstructing the legal process.
Unconditional bail was set at $75,000. Dudley will make his next court appearance on Monday, Oct. 12.
The Minnesota State Patrol, Department of Natural Resources, Bemidji and Red Lake Police Departments and Bemidji ambulance service assisted with the ongoing investigation.
