More than 1.3 million Minnesotans have requested mail-in ballots for the November election so far.
Secretary of State Steve Simon is encouraging more voters to do the same during the coronavirus pandemic.
Simon said, “No one is saying that polling places are a death trap and you should run for your lives. What we are saying is use your head, use caution, think about ways you can mitigate risk, up to and including using alternate ways of voting.”
Minnesotans are able to vote by mail up until Election Day as long as the ballot is postmarked Nov. 3 and arrives by Nov. 10.
Voters in Beltrami County can also vote absentee in-person until 3 p.m. Nov. 3, and a ballot box is located outside the County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office, on the second floor of the Beltrami Administration Building.
Auditor-Treasurer JoDee Treat says those who request or receive mail-in ballots can drop them off in person if they are uncomfortable sending ballots through the mail.
