Situation Update for Tuesday, Nov. 10

The Minnesota Department of Health says there have been 4,843 new confirmed cases and 63 new probable cases of COVID-19 reported today, bringing the state’s case totals to 188,114 confirmed and 1,567 probable cases.

Twenty-three new COVID deaths were reported today, bringing the state’s death toll to 2,668. Nine of today’s new reported deaths were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.

Of those deaths, 1,860 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of those cases, 16,431 were health care workers.

Over 3.135 million PCR tests and almost 44,000 antigen tests have been completed so far, with about 34,000 PCR tests and 44,000 antigen tests completed yesterday.

MDH reported 26 new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County today, bringing the county’s case total to 1,293 confirmed cases, one probable case and 13 deaths. Beltrami Public Health’s Megan Heuer reported yesterday afternoon that at that time, they were monitoring 233 active cases.

MDH reported 26 new cases in Cass County, for a total of 717 confirmed, one probable case and seven deaths; six new cases in Clearwater County, for a total of 220 confirmed cases and two deaths; and 12 new cases in Hubbard County, for a total of 650 confirmed cases, one probable case and 10 deaths.

Twenty-one new cases were reported in Itasca County today, bringing their total to 1,108 confirmed cases and 18 deaths.

In a release from Itasca Public Health Director Kelly Chandler, the county is reporting the 19th COVID death, a man in his 70s.

“If you are in a group setting, just assume that someone has COVID,” said Chandler.

“If you care about your family, your friends, your community—wear your mask.  Avoid gatherings.  Keep six feet distance.  When we made these choices in October, we drove our rates down.  We can—we must—do it again and keep doing it.”

Ten new cases were reported in Koochiching County, for a total of 220 confirmed cases, one probable case and five deaths; ten new cases in Lake of the Woods County, for a total of 60 confirmed cases, four probable cases and one death; six new cases in Mahnomen County, for a total of 159 confirmed cases and three deaths; and 118 new confirmed cases in Roseau County, for a total of 504 confirmed, 85 probable cases and one death.
