Situation Update for Wednesday, Dec. 2

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 5,192 new COVID-19 cases today and 77 new COVID deaths, a new single-day record.

Minnesota has seen 327,477 COVID infections in total, and 3,692 lost their lives due to COVID.

Of all deaths, 2,474 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of all cases, 23,731 were health care workers.

Over 4.326 million COVID-19 tests have been completed, with over 2.556 million Minnesotans tested. Yesterday, 43,000 tests were completed.

To date, 286,219 COVID patients no longer need isolation.

Clearwater County’s ninth death due to COVID was reported today, a resident in their early 80s, as was Hubbard County’s 28th death, a resident in their late 60s.

MDH reported 22 new confirmed and 19 new probable cases in Beltrami County today, bringing the total to 2,215 confirmed, 60 probable cases and 18 deaths*; 21 new cases in Cass County, for a total of 1,487 confirmed, 12 probable cases and 10 deaths; four new cases in Clearwater County, for a total of 531 confirmed and seven probable cases; and six new cases in Hubbard County, for a total of 1,166 confirmed and 11 probable cases.

*Beltrami Public Health’s Megan Heuer reported there have been 21 deaths due to COVID-19.
