Situation Update for Wednesday, Dec. 16

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 2,279 new COVID-19 cases today and 92 new deaths, bringing the state’s case total to 386,412 and the death toll to 4,575.

Of all deaths, 2,982 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of all cases, 29,220 were health care workers.

Not as many COVID-19 tests were completed yesterday: Monday, around 32,000 were completed but on Tuesday, only about 20,000 tests. Since March, over 4.985 million tests have been completed.

To date, 356,384 COVID-19 patients no longer need isolation.

One COVID death was reported in Beltrami County today, a resident in their early 80s, and one death was also reported in Hubbard County, a resident in their late 80s.

Twenty-two new COVID-19 cases were reported in Beltrami County today, 17 new cases in Cass County, two new cases in Clearwater County and six new cases in Hubbard County.

In total, Beltrami County has had 2,660 cases and 30 deaths, Cass County has had 1,793 cases and 13 deaths, Clearwater County has had 616 cases and 10 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,306 cases and 34 deaths.
