According to a release, 36-year-old Janelle Johnson made the emergency call just after midnight on Dec. 26, and informed dispatch that she and her husband, 36-year-old Austin Johnson, went to their brother-in-law’s home on the 5,000 block of Lavinia Rd. NE, to confront him over some alleged domestic abuse incidents between he and Ms. Johnson’s sister.

A verbal argument reportedly ensued, then it became a physical altercation, before ultimately Ms. Johnson brandished a gun and shot 48-year-old Jesse Farris.

Law enforcement found Farris’ body outside the residence.
