Situation Update for Tuesday, Jan. 5

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 1,612 new COVID infections today and 18 new COVID deaths, bringing the state’s case count to 425,261 and the death toll to 5,461.

Of all deaths, 3,513 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Of all cases, 32,966 were health care workers.

Today’s data comes from around 16,000 tests completed yesterday. Over 3.024 million Minnesotans have been tested, with over 5.738 million tests completed.

To date, 406,667 COVID patients no longer need isolation.

MDH reported one death in Beltrami County today, a resident in their late 60s.

MDH reported 11 new cases in Beltrami County today, seven new cases in Cass County, four new cases in Clearwater County, and seven new cases in Hubbard County.

Since March, Beltrami County has had 2,939 cases and 44 deaths, Cass County has had 1,966 cases and 20 deaths, Clearwater County has had 666 cases and 14 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,414 cases and 37 deaths.
