COVID-19 home health care tools are heading to the homes of American Indian elders.
According to a release from the Minnesota Department of Human Services, blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters and technology to support telehealth and behavioral health will be distributed to elders in Minnesota’s indigenous communities.
More than $500,000 in funding will be used to help at-risk elders access primary care and supportive services that keep them safe at home.
American Indians have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19 infections and fatalities, including the highest percentages hospitalized, admitted to the ICU, and deaths due to COVID-19 compared to other racial and ethnic communities.
