Bemidji High School and Bemidji Middle School may resume hybrid learning next month.
According to Superintendent Tim Lutz, permission was granted by the Northwest Minnesota regional COVID support team.
Bemidji High School will extend its second term by one week, with the first day of Hybrid learning on Thursday, Feb. 4.
Bemidji Middle School will resume hybrid learning on Feb. 1, with Jan. 28 and 29 off from school to allow a transition time for teachers.
In both cases, “B” group students will be the first to resume in-person classes.
BMS and BHS students have been in distance learning since November due to the county’s COVID-19 case rate, which at that time was at least 100 new cases per 10,000 people.
The state guidelines indicate schools should lean toward distance learning for all students in counties with case rates of higher than 50.
Lutz has emphasized there was little evidence of community transmission within the schools, allowing the district to keep as many students in in-person classes.
