Beltrami County Board discusses potential joint meeting with City of Bemidji

During the Beltrami County Board of Commissioners’ Work Session, commissioners discussed a potential meeting, tentatively planned for next month, with leaders of the county seat, Bemidji.

Commissioner Jim Lucachick said they would need plenty of time for the meeting, with five commissioners and seven council members, he anticipated a meeting like this lasting at least an hour and a half.

Other items discussed included:

  • Approval of the veterans services officer transition plan. Current Beltrami County Veterans Services Officer Scotty Allison plans to retire before 2022, and due to the requirements of the position and training required, the commissioners are recommended to begin the hiring process as soon as possible.
  • Approval of a lease with Aurora Waasakone Charter School. The charter school plans to continue occupying a portion of the Community Services building for another two years.
  • A discussion on the Mississippi “One Watershed, One Plan” document. The full 200+ page draft of the plan is available at headwatershed.org.
