Situation Update for Thursday, March 11

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 1,096 new COVID-19 cases today and 19 newly reported COVID deaths, bringing the state’s case total to 494,106 and the death toll to 6,724.

Of today’s deaths, seven were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities, bringing the total number of deaths at these types of facilities to 4,231.

Today’s data comes after around 39,000 tests were completed yesterday. Over 3.5 million people have been tested for COVID-19, with over 7.6 million tests completed.

Nearly 480,000 of the state’s COVID patients no longer need isolation.

MDH reported two new deaths in Cass County today, one resident in their early 80s and one in their late 80s.

MDH is reporting two new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County today, five new cases in Cass County, one new case in Clearwater County, and two new cases in Hubbard County.

New case rates for the four-county area have been updated. For the two-week period ending Feb. 27, Beltrami County had 15.61 new cases per 10,000 people, a decrease of about four points from the last report.

Cass County’s rate increased about six points to 15.16, Clearwater County’s rate increased about four points to 18.16, and Hubbard County’s rate decreased about 12 points to 9.11.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 3,409 cases and 54 deaths, Cass County has had 2,241 cases and 26 deaths, Clearwater County has had 724 cases and 14 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,615 cases and 41 deaths.
