AUDIO: House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler expands on DFL-introduced budget and tax package

House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler elaborated on the budget and tax package introduced by House DFlers earlier in the week.

The plan asks the wealthiest Minnesotan individuals and corporations to pay more in taxes to pay for long-term investments into early childhood and education.

Winkler responded to criticism from Republican colleagues and said that while the federal money injections may be enough for right now, it will not support schools on a sustained level.

The state’s projected $1.5 billion budget surplus also does not account for inflation, another key issue in state funding for schools.
