AUDIO: Commissioner Olson comments on Tuesday’s meeting

The Beltrami County Board of Commissioners had a lively meeting Tuesday, which included a presentation from an organization known as “Respect Minnesota.”

The work session agenda item was a pledge, with many other cities, counties, unions, industries, and Enbridge signing on.

During the meeting, Chair of the Board Commissioner Reed Olson said he wished the representative wasn’t there, sparking some social media backlash.

Olson, in a later interview, said he did so because he felt the “Respect Minnesota” was a well-done public relations campaign, not a grassroots organization, and that the board has traditionally veered away from any discussions on Line 3.
