Situation Update for Friday, May 7

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 1,453 new COVID-19 cases today and 12 newly reported deaths.

In total, there have been 585,677 infections in the state with 7,216 deaths.

One of today’s deaths was a resident of long-term care or assisted living facility. There have been 4,377 deaths in these types of facilities.

Today’s data comes after around 43,000 tests were completed yesterday. More than 4 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with 9.4 million tests completed.

More than 564,000 of the state’s COVID patients no longer need isolation.

MDH is reporting nine new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County today, six new cases in Cass County, one new case in Clearwater County, and 11 new cases in Hubbard County.

The latest case rate information shows that for the two-week period ending April 24, Beltrami’s case rate decreased about seven points to 23.42 new cases per 10,000 people.

In Cass County, the rate dropped about two points to 47.21.

The rate nearly doubled in Clearwater County, from 34.04 to 62.41. Hubbard County’s rate increased about four points to 41.7.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 3,894 cases and 58 deaths, Cass County has had 2,669 cases and 28 deaths, Clearwater County has had 859 cases and 16 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 1,853 cases and 41 deaths.
