Highway 200 project starts today

Construction began today on a nearly 16 mile stretch of Highway 200 near Walker.

According to MnDOT, crews will work on the mill and overlay between the junctions of Highway 371 and Highway 84.

Lane closures can be expected now, but a staged detour is planned for two weeks in late July and early August.

The $10.6 million project is expected to be complete sometime in October and will include widened shoulders, additional turning lanes, and two replaced box culverts at Bag Creek and Cedar Creek.

Tree removal work for this project began last winter.
