Situation Update for Wednesday, May 19

The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 658 new COVID-19 cases today and 15 newly reported deaths.

In total, the state has had 596,186 infections and 7,325 deaths.

Five of today’s reported deaths were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. There have been 4,395 COVID deaths in these types of homes.

Today’s data comes after around 17,000 tests were completed yesterday.

Nearly 4.2 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with 9.7 million tests completed.

As of today, 581,861 of the state’s COVID patients no longer need to be isolated.

One of today’s reported deaths was a Cass County resident in their late 60s.

MDH is reporting 13 new COVID-19 cases in Beltrami County today, seven new cases in Cass County, three new cases in Clearwater County, and three new cases in Hubbard County.
