All city water customers are subject to an odd/even sprinkling ban in an attempt to reduce peak water usage.
According to a release, customers both residential and commercial with addresses ending in an odd number can water their yards and lawns on odd-numbered days.
Customers with even addresses may water yards and lawns on even days.
Due to the amount of water that can be lost to evaporation, no watering is permitted between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Exceptions include:
- Newly sodded/seeded yards are exempt from the odd/even rule for two weeks, but no watering allowed between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- Overseeding or spot repair of existing, established yards may be watered daily with a hand-controlled hose, outside the prohibited 10 to 6 time slot.
- Car washing, children’s swimming pools, children playing in hose-operated sprinklers, or water toys are exempt from all watering restrictions.
- Hand watering of flower pots, baskets, and vegetable gardens is permitted at any time.
- Any sprinkler system not served by the municipal water system.
The ban is in effect Saturday, June 5, until further notice.
