Great Northern Depot undergoes LED upgrade

The Beltrami County Historical Center recently announced that Otter Tail Power gave them almost a $2,000 rebate for energy efficiency.

According to a release, the former Great Northern Depot which now houses the local museum was still operating a number of fluorescent and incandescent lights.

After an energy assessment, 173 fluorescent lights were replaced with LEDs, the quartz lights were removed, and gallery spotlights were also updated to LEDs.

The upgrade was made possible thanks to that $1,967 rebate from Otter Tail, monetary donations, and volunteer hours.

The museum now anticipates lower lighting costs and an energy-efficient building.
