Registration is now open for the annual Starry Trek, a volunteer event where lake lovers can help determine if aquatic invasive species are in neighborhood lakes.

The University of Minnesota Extension Office coordinates the effort across numerous agencies across the state.

Starry stonewort has already been discovered through previous Beltrami County Starry Trek events in Wolf Lake and Lake Beltrami.

Cass County will also hold a Starry Trek event.

No experience is needed and training is provided on-site. To register, visit starrytrek.org.

This year’s event is scheduled Aug. 21.
