The Greenwood fire in Lake County has now grown to nearly 9,000 acres and is 0 percent contained.

The Superior National Forest, who is managing the situation, also announced the closure of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

The decision was made due to all resources directed to the Greenwood Fire that has prompted at least 100 evacuations.

Smoke from the blaze prompted air quality warnings across the Arrowhead region yesterday.

Favorable firefighting weather conditions with cooler weather are expected this week.
