Local Good Samaritan credited with assisting in water rescue

A local Good Samaritan is credited with assisting a water rescue earlier this month.

According to a release from Beltrami County Sheriff Ernie Beitel, dispatch heard a report that a man had been found unresponsive near a capsized canoe on Little Turtle Lake on Sept. 1.

Deputy Brandon Newhouse requested a boat from a nearby homeowner, who immediately assisted.

Glen T. Lindseth assisted Deputy Newhouse with the rescue of the man, who was being held above the water by a family member.

Despite muddy conditions, Lindseth helped maneuver the submerged canoe to lift the victim into the motorboat.

The victim apparently suffered a severe allergic reaction to a bee sting and was transported by waiting ambulance to Sanford Bemidji’s ER.
