New walleye regulations were announced for Upper Red Lake this winter.
As of Monday, anglers will have a four-walleye bag limit, with only one walleye longer than 17-inches allowed, an increase since last year.
The DNR says the limit last winter and this past summer was due to low numbers of mature walleyes.
Population assessments this fall showed a wide range of sizes with an abundance of mature spawning walleye.
