Applicants are still being sought for the Racial Equity Accountability Project team through the Northwest Continuum of Care.
This team will work to break down racial disparities in the homeless response system in northwest Minnesota. Applications will be accepted through Dec. 8.
If eligible, members will be compensated for their time at $25 an hour, and all members will be compensated for costs incurred, such as transportation and childcare, for the eight hours per month required for the project.
Monthly meetings will be held online.
People of color are encouraged to apply.
Currently, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and households of color experience homelessness that is 7 to 8 times higher than their representation within the general population.
The Northwest Minnesota Foundation says that last year, nearly 72 percent of chronically homeless youth in Northwest Minnesota were Indigenous.
