Bemidji City Council to hold Truth in Taxation hearing

The Bemidji City Council will hold their Truth in Taxation hearing during their regular meeting Monday.

This hearing discusses how tax dollars collected are used, not on how each property owner is assessed.

Filing has opened to fill the vacancy in Ward 5 with candidates able to submit affidavits at City Hall until Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 5 p.m.

Four have already filed: Lynn Eaton, Don Heinonen, Bill Batchelder and Micaiah Graham.

The city also published their request for a proposal for the future operation and management of the Sanford Center.

The RFP is available to view on the city’s website.

The council will make a decision in February, with the new company to take over operations in early March, when the existing VenuWorks contract expires.
