Five have now entered the special Ward 5 race, the vacancy likely to last several months

A fifth person has filed as a candidate for the special Ward 5 election.

Kevin Campbell, a business owner in transportation, now joins Lynn Eaton, Bill Batchelder, Don Heinonen and Micaiah Graham in the special election, the primary set for early February.

Tuesday is the last day to file at City Hall, during their hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If no candidate wins with more than 50 percent of the votes in February, the two candidates with the most votes will move onto a secondary election in August.

Longtime Ward 5 representative Nancy Erickson resigned in September, and with this many vying for the seat, it is likely a six-membered council will continue for several more months.
