Dozens file for Red Lake general election

The filing period has closed for the tribal elections of Red Lake, with the general election set for May 18.

There are five candidates for Red Lake Chairman, with four challenging incumbent Darrell Seki, Sr., including former chairman Floyd “Buck” Jourdain, as well as Angela Chaboyea, Lydell Roberts and Darwin Sumner.

Beltrami County Commissioner Tim Sumner is challenging incumbent Samuel Strong for Red Lake Tribal Secretary.

Two are challenging Red Lake incumbent tribal treasurer Annette Johnson; Vernelle Lussier and Martina Beaulieu.

There are 13 candidates challenging incumbent Red Lake district representative Donald Good, Sr., and four candidates challenging incumbent Little Rock district representative Adrian Beaulieu.

Two more tribal districts have no incumbent, in Redby and in Ponemah.

Eight filed for Redby representative and five filed for Ponemah.
