Chief Deputy Walton announces campaign for Beltrami County Sheriff

Chief Deputy Jarrett Walton has announced his intention to run for Beltrami County Sheriff this year.

According to a release, Walton has served as Sheriff Ernie Beitel’s chief deputy for the past three years.

Walton began his law enforcement career in 1997 in Kansas, and has been in Beltrami County’s Sheriff’s Office since 2002.

“I have always actively looked to improve the efficiencies, response and services provided by the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office,” said Walton in a release.

“I am eager to face the unique challenges we currently face and those in the future by serving as the next Beltrami County Sheriff.”

Walton joins Bidal Duran, a former Bemidji Police patrol officer now working in Hubbard County, after Sheriff Ernie Beitel announced his intentions to retire at the end of this year after his first term.
