Two of Minnesota’s legislators in Congress are planning to unveil new legislation that would help Minnesotans get the training they need in high-demand fields.
According to Senator Tina Smith, the 21st Century Workforce Partnerships Act would give local school districts, businesses and communities a way to come together, so they may apply for grants that would fill those vacancies as needed.
The release says, “Everybody, whether they attend a four-year college or pursue a trade, should be able to find a good paying career. The 21st Century Workforce Partnerships Act addresses a major need in the modern economy:hands-on training to prepare students for the high-skill jobs of today, while also ensuring employers have enough trained workers to fill the thousands of current job openings in Minnesota. Their bill would expand and strengthen workforce partnerships between secondary schools, two-year colleges, and local businesses.”
Presenting a companion bill in the House is Representative Angie Craig of Congressional District 2.
