Beltrami County joins Sheriffs’ Association drive to provide protective gear to Ukraine

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office is participating in the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association drive to donate bulletproof vests to the people of Ukraine.

According to a release, 650 vests, 55 helmets and four shields were collected by agencies across the state.

Chief Deputy Jarrett Walton said that the gear donated by the BCSO had reached the manufacturer’s expiration date and had already been replaced, but the equipment is still capable of providing protection.

The release says the Minnesota Sheriff’s Association has a personal contact connected to Ukraine that will ensure the donated items are immediately provided to those in need.
