“Suspicious” fire on Tranquility Lane under investigation

The Bemidji Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 8900 block of Tranquility Lane on Monday, May 9, around 5 p.m.

The release says 22 firefighters were on the Eckles Township scene for about three hours with eight pieces of equipment.

“Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-story residential structure with nothing showing. Firefighters made entry into the home and encountered heat with no visibility.”

The home and its contents were significantly damaged. No injuries were reported.

The fire, which the release says appears suspicious, is still under investigation.

One arrest was made related to this incident, according to Monday’s police blotter.

No charges have yet been filed in court on this suspect, who will not be named by this outlet until charges are made public.

Bemidji Ambulance Service, the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted the Bemidji Fire Department on the scene.
