Anglers reminded to follow the law and clean, drain, dry

The DNR is reminding anglers to follow state laws to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species.

Boaters are required to clean aquatic plants and debris, drain lake or river water and keep drain plugs out during transport, and dispose of unwanted bait in the trash, not in the water.

The DNR also recommends spraying boats and trailers with high-pressure water, rinsing in very hot water, or drying for at least five days.

Several CD3 boat cleaning stations were installed at Beltrami County infested waters earlier this spring, and the Leech Lake Division of Resource Management installed a few last February.
