Bemidji Schools continue work to keep schools safe and secure

The day after yet another school shooting in America, Superintendent of Bemidji Schools Tim Lutz provided a message for parents.

At last report, 19 elementary students and two teachers were killed by an 18-year-old male, who was fatally shot by officers in Uvalde, Texas yesterday.

“School should and must be a place where students feel completely safe,” said Lutz.

Lutz says counselors, social workers and school staff are available to assist students who may need extra support, and he encourages students to reach out if they need help.

Lutz says Bemidji Schools will continue to work to make schools safe and secure for all students. Lutz noted that the district has a strong relationship with local law enforcement.

Lutz asks the community to keep the students, staff and families of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District in their thoughts.
