Multiple Twin Cities news outlets are reporting that Republican Representative Matt Grossell of Clearbrook was arrested early Saturday morning.
The Star Tribune, Minnesota Public Radio and the Pioneer Press reported that Grossell, a former Clearwater County Sheriff’s deputy and currently in his second term in the Minnesota House, was removed from a St. Paul hotel for being disorderly and taken to Regions Hospital by police, who believed he was too intoxicated to care for himself.
After Grossell was cleared by doctors, he refused to leave, prompting the arrest for misdemeanor trespassing. He was released a short time later on promise to appear in court.
Grossell issued a statement later on Saturday apologizing for the incident. According to the Ramsey County Jail roster, he was arrested just after 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
A court date has not been posted yet, according to Ramsey County Court records. Grossell has not yet been reached for comment, despite attempts made by this reporter.
