The Beltrami County Board of Commissioners will hear an update on county parks in their work session.
The meetings Tuesday will kick off to the public around 4 with a closed session scheduled for labor negotiations.
The county’s parks include Three Island, Mississippi High Banks, Rognlien, Wilton Hill, Movil Maze, and the Grant Creek Horse Camp.
The presentation includes 2022 projects as well as a report of some of the various damages, from flooding and from vandalism.
The county board will also hear an informational update on an oil-spill site in Lammers Township.
The update includes a review of a memorandum of understanding between the county, Enbridge, the US Geological Survey, and the Minnesota PollutionControl Agency.
The 10,700-barrel spill was from what was then Lakehead Pipe Line Company’s Line 3.
Over the years, more than 75 percent of the crude oil has been removed, but residual crude within the soil and groundwater remains in the site, which has been studied since 1983.
The contaminated groundwater plume is not expected to be a threat to human health or the environment for the period of the MOU, effective 2019-2023.
The county’s budget process is also underway, with the board expected to decide which two commissioners will sit on the budget committee.
